The idea of Cakes for Kids Winnipeg started out when I was in cake decorating classes.  A fresh cake was made for every week of class.  My family, friends and co-workers thought this was the best thing ever!  As the classes continued, the freezer grew full of cake and I knew there had to be something better to do with them.  With all of these new ideas and techniques, I desperately wanted to make even more cake but didn't know what to do with it!  A google search resulted in a 2008 article in People.  Toni Poulos had an idea after making a birthday cake for her foster child.  Her eight year old had never had a birthday cake and that started Toni's plan to provide cakes for children that would not be receiving one otherwise.  Cakes for Kids Winnipeg is setting out to do the same.  We match home based bakers with families in need of a birthday cake for their child.  Families are referred to Cakes for Kids Winnipeg by local community groups that we partner with.  

 

Cakes for Kids Winnipeg believes that every child deserves a birthday cake.  As volunteers, we care for families who find it difficult to provide a birthday cake for their child.
